Lighting Fun.

Tonight I thought I would have a few minutes of fun and try some new lighting techniques. It's nothing too great but I thought it would be fun. I think that maybe instead of PhotoWalks all of the time, we can choose a location and all work on our lighting skills? Could be fun and a good learning experience for everyone, not only to take the shot, but also to learn how to set it up fast and accurate. Just a thought.

Color And Importance.

So, I took this shot back during my second quarter for my final four. I couldn't use it because it had people in it. I like it as a black & white, but I really like the red from the chairs so we'll see if I can use this for color for my porfolio. It's on my flickr if you want to see a better version since blogger's quality is not good.

IMPORTANT: (again) I am going to be posting this a lot because I will be needing this soon. I am needing to buy a second camera as soon as possible. I would love to get a good deal on an original 5D, but if I can't find one for $1,500 or less, I am going to have to stick to the 50D/40D/30D to buy to last me till the end of school, because I need to invest in some L series lenses. So, if anyone could help me out, if you hear about a good deal, see one, or have one! Let me know and it would be much appreciated.

Real Hope Fest On Flickr.

A bunch of Real Hope Fest photos are on my Flickr now. Check them out, tell me what you think, etc. etc.

IMPORTANT: If anyone has a 5D, 50D, 40D, or even 30D for sale I am looking to purchase a second camera. I need it as soon as possible. Requirements: Overall to be in excellent or good condition, sensor must be in excellent condition, preferably under 10,000 frames shot, under 20,000 is still acceptable.

Real Hope Finally.

I have finally been able to get on the Real Hope Fest Photos I shot in November. I have been super busy between school, work, and other photo jobs to sit down with all of these photos. I am am almost done with them all, I am really just finishing up some final touches and trying to get them all organized. Because there was so many bands, I got confused who played for what band haha. I will be posting a bunch more on Flickr in the next two days.

I'm not sure if there is going to be a PhotoWalk this week. I haven't been able to think about it so if I could get some help from others who may want to plan it, that'd be great.

Photo Walk Number Four.

I've been kind of swamped and I have tried to think about this PhotoWalk but honestly I've had no time. This is what I came up with, park at Atlantic Station, it's cheap and explore down West Peachtree and Peachtree Street. There are tons of stuff all around that part of Atlanta so it should be fun. Here's a google map of 17th Street. So just link yourself to it. Start time, let's say 3:00PM. Ok, I hope that's cool with everyone.

Of The vine Promos Up.

Of The Vine's Promos are up on my Flickr now so go check them out! I'm sorry I haven't posted about the walk on Sunday, I've had not much time to think about it. Right now I think down West Peachtree St. and Peachtree Street would be great to head down. We could start from Atlantic Station if we can't find any good parking lots that are free or inexpensive. Check back tomorrow for directions.

Have Heart At MJQ.

Here's something for Ryan (and everyone else) since he's always posting music that he enjoys listening to while he edits his sick material. This is Have Heart (the sickest band out of Boston in my own opinion) live here in Atlanta at the MJQ. Great video to give you a taste of the Atlanta Hardcore scene.

Wedding Photography.

I finally got some of my wedding material up on Flickr. I know, it took me long enough, but they are up there so check them out. This was my first wedding back last June. I have some newer work coming up soon that I am excited about. I now have more knowledge and ideas to put forth to the future weddings I shoot so that makes it all the more exciting. I'm hoping to get enough work between promotional shoots, weddings, and any other work I get to pay for all the new gear I hope to attain in the very very near future and also help me give back what has so graciously been given to me.

P-to-the-S: PhotoWalk Sunday the 8th of February! Looks like it's going to be a big turn out so keep checking back for the information about it!

Factory Fire off North Ave.

Tonight on the way home from Denis Reggie's place, I happen to catch a factory off North Ave. on fire. It was on the Corner of North Ave. and Somerset Terrace. I'm guessing it was the old Dixie Seal & Stamp Factory that caught fire once before. I caught it around 6:00, so it might have been going on for 10 to 15 minutes before I got there. It was blazing out of the back of the factory, which made it extremely hard to see from the roads closest to the building. They're nothing great, but it was quite the scene.

Denis Reggie.

Please take a second to look at the other Mrs. Harkin's (Joyce) to the right of this photo. ;)
Here's some photos from the joyous day of learning at Denis Reggie's workshop. I can honestly say I learned a great bit and am, once again, stoked for tomorrow's session. We learned about "foofing" which is bouncing light, but with style. I understand now, why and how Denis Reggie has taken Wedding Photography to a whole new level and carried it as far as he has. I am truly honored to be able to be apart of this workshop. Not to mention, his team has to be the coolest staff out there and the food is disgustingly... amazing! Oh and the group attending the workshop are some of the nicest people, this has been a great experience.
This is Clara Chambers, one of Denis' second shooters. She is such an awesome gal who knows how to show some great southern hospitality with sweet tea and letting us blind her with our flashes. She is a really great photographer, so check out her work here.

Photo Walk Number Three.

Today we had our Third Official PhotoWalk on the East Side of Atlanta. It was a success if I do say so myself. We found some really good treasure that would be considered the resident's junk, like couches and your every day good ol' recliner. It was a little bit shorter this time, but we'll have plenty more so no worries about time constraints. I'm stoked to get the rest of Walk Two and Three and even One up soon. See you on the next PhotoWalk!
