Factory Fire off North Ave.

Tonight on the way home from Denis Reggie's place, I happen to catch a factory off North Ave. on fire. It was on the Corner of North Ave. and Somerset Terrace. I'm guessing it was the old Dixie Seal & Stamp Factory that caught fire once before. I caught it around 6:00, so it might have been going on for 10 to 15 minutes before I got there. It was blazing out of the back of the factory, which made it extremely hard to see from the roads closest to the building. They're nothing great, but it was quite the scene.

Denis Reggie.

Please take a second to look at the other Mrs. Harkin's (Joyce) to the right of this photo. ;)
Here's some photos from the joyous day of learning at Denis Reggie's workshop. I can honestly say I learned a great bit and am, once again, stoked for tomorrow's session. We learned about "foofing" which is bouncing light, but with style. I understand now, why and how Denis Reggie has taken Wedding Photography to a whole new level and carried it as far as he has. I am truly honored to be able to be apart of this workshop. Not to mention, his team has to be the coolest staff out there and the food is disgustingly... amazing! Oh and the group attending the workshop are some of the nicest people, this has been a great experience.
This is Clara Chambers, one of Denis' second shooters. She is such an awesome gal who knows how to show some great southern hospitality with sweet tea and letting us blind her with our flashes. She is a really great photographer, so check out her work here.

Photo Walk Number Three.

Today we had our Third Official PhotoWalk on the East Side of Atlanta. It was a success if I do say so myself. We found some really good treasure that would be considered the resident's junk, like couches and your every day good ol' recliner. It was a little bit shorter this time, but we'll have plenty more so no worries about time constraints. I'm stoked to get the rest of Walk Two and Three and even One up soon. See you on the next PhotoWalk!

Photo Walkin' Atlanta 2009 Number Three.

Tomorrow is another PhotoWalk. Yes, third one this week. I am not any kind of coordinator or organizer, so I haven't contacted everyone, made concrete meeting times or places, etc. etc. All I've done is made, what I think, is this cool invite info thing! So that means this isn't some organized that we're doing here. Because I'm sure there are going to be many walks that I won't make, but I will try to help out as much as I can. So anywho! From the talk I had with Ryan, the sounding plan will be to meet around 2:30PM - 3:00PM in East Atlanta. The best place to park in East Atlanta is down Moreland Ave. in the Kroger/Barnes&Noble/Target Parking lot, because it is huge and free and in East Atlanta. For directions CLICK HERE! This is coming from the North Ave. exit, Exit 249D I believe. If you come late, just give one of us a call. If you don't have our numbers, comment one of us or email us. My email address is: mrbrianh@gmail.com. When we meet, we will then split up into groups and explore the Eastside of Atlanta. We'll probably end up meeting back up after a while to see what we got and decide if we feel like going anywhere else, go home, or go eat! I'm stoked, so I hope to see a bunch of you come out.
Oh, and in other news, Miss Georgia was 1st Runner Up for Miss America! Whoop Whoop! She's smokin' man.

Film, Good To Get Back To.

So, I developed two rolls of Color Film today at work. This shot is from the Kodak Portra 400 roll. The colors and detail came out real nice. The other roll of FujiFilm 400 came out pretty nice as well. This shot is similar to a photo I shot for my first final four, which reminds me that I need to post some of those shots. Well, more film to come from another Color roll, some Tri-X, and T-Max.

Kevin "King Dirty" Dowling.

My friend and fellow photographer, Kevin Dowling, is one of the sickest photographers in Atlanta. He's not only a great guy but a great photographer with fresh ideas and a strong desire for inspiration. Every time I have conversations with Kevin, we end up deep into hopes for this world and for what we can change with our photography. I am stoked to see where he goes in the world of photography. Check out his blog and his flickr.

Photo Walk Number Two.

Photo Walk Atlanta Number Two was another success. I have gone through a good bit of what I got today and I am pretty stoked on them. I have scouted tons of new spots that I can bring some bands and models back to. Sunday is the next walk I believe. We have not discussed it thoroughly yet, but we're thinking Sunday afternoon, East Atlanta.
Two things I have realized these past two walks. The 30D's noise is becoming a bigger problem and I need to re-calibrate my monitor. Again, exciting things are happening in the PhotoWorld. Get stoked!

Possible Photo Walkin' Tomorrow!

Possible Photo Walk Tomorrow guys and gals! Get in touch with one of us and we'll let you know the official area that we will be shooting at. We will most likely be heading out around 1:00 after those of us who have a class tomorrow get back from our "Field Trip". REMEMBER: This isn't just for photo students, this is for anyone that just wants to hang out and have the chance to grow as a photographer by getting out there and shooting your heart out. STOKED, WHAT!

More from Tuesday!

I'm still sifting through all of the photos from Tuesday and I'm enjoying it a lot. I am stoked about everything that is happening in the PhotoWorld lately. Check out some of the photos from Jessica's, Kevin's, and Ryan's Flickrs. Oh! And film photos are coming super soon as well.

Inauguration Day/First Official Photo Walk.

Another photo from yesterday's Day of Photography downtown. This was after the Inauguration when we decided to head out and spend the day just snapping everything. We came across a man named... Carl? I think I remember him saying. He was on the street corner advertising for a Bank. This homeless man came up to him and Kevin and the guy literally gave him his jacket, that leather one right there because the man had no coat (and you know it was too cold yesterday). It was such a generous and inspiring moment. I can't wait to see the shots Kevin got of these guys. Mo' commin' on da flickAH!

Inauguration Day for Barak Obama in Atlanta.

At first I was really bummed my plans fell through for going to D.C.... But after today, I am very glad I did not go. The experience in Centennial Olympic Park was great, it was beautiful to see all the emotions. But the experience that really made the day was just getting to spend time with a few great people. Kevin Dowling, Ryan Tyrl, Jessica Elliott, and I spent the whole rest of the day shooting in downtown in the freezing cold weather. Ryan summed up everything fairly nice so check out his post about it. Also Jessica will be posting a video from on the way back to our cars from Marta... it was a trip. I will post more about it tomorrow because it was an experience I'll remember for the rest of my life. I know it sounds corny, but they are some great people and amazing photographers. I'm stoked about what is to come. Now, I need rest because almost everything attached to my body hurts.

Bob Kolbrener at the Fay Gold Gallery.

I was trying upload a photo of the Gallery in math but it wouldn't upload, but I'm going to try and head down to the Fay Gold Gallery once my math class ends. But! it's 5:41 AND IT'S STILL NOT OVER!!! And it starts at 6:00. It's a Bob Kolbrener Exhibit and I'm stoked to see it since he worked with Ansel Adams.

Lately.

Besides getting back in the groove of school I am trying to fit a video project in between everything. These are some of the shots I took down in the rather large trailer park community of Lakeview Estates. It is the largest Hispanic Trailer Park in the Southeast. The video is to provide awareness of the unlivable conditions in the community and what needs to be done by volunteers for the community and the local church. I will have more information coming soon.

Of The Vine Promos.

I just shot some promos with the band Of The Vine. These are some of the greatest and most humble dudes out there. Their music is beautiful and I cannot imagine the places they are going to go. I have only uploaded this photo on Flickr, but I will be uploading a bunch more once I get them all edited. Mo' stuff comin'. 'Lotta love for 2009.
